Still no progress on collapsed building at 118 Madison
On July 5, I posted In a Real City addressing the 3 month closing of Madison Avenue in the heart of Downtown.
This is a 7/5/11 photo taken of the progress of repairs on 118 Madison.
To the casual observer, little, if any, progress has been made in the last month. This photo was taken August 12, 2011, over 4 months after the collapse.
Can you see any progress? Has the Mayor, City Council, or environmental court revisited this issue? Have we heard anything from the owners, who list their address as right around the corner on Second St.? How long is Memphis going to allow this to go on?
If you are Downtown much, you know there are a lot of neglected buildings, many possibly on the verge of collapse. Would the city live with a closing of South Main if more the Chisca Hotel collapsed into the street?
